Butcher Works Sheffield

Butcher Works January 2010

In my last post I mentioned the city centre of Sheffield and expressed a sadness that many of the old buildings are disappearing.  Todays photograph is of The Butcher Works on Arundel Street built in 1835.  Historically they were cutlery and grinding workshops and are now a grade 2 listed building.  Many buildings like this have been lost.  Luckily these have been saved and beautifully redeveloped into flats, a cafe, workshops, gallery space and a college. Even in the snow these buildings radiate a natural warmth.  Will the same be said of St Pauls Tower in 175 years time?
