The truth is that I had no tripod with me and no remote control so I set the camera up on the wall of the car park on a 10 second timer. My intention was to lie down next to the arrow. After quite a few attempts this is as close as I could get in the 10 seconds. Actually it turned out to be more dynamic than my original idea. Sometimes it’s good to embrace those happy accidents 👍 The photo was used next to my written profile in a small window exhibition back in 2010. My photography has never been about me so the shot is a bit of a humorous take on the portrait of an artist. I am not one for standing in front of the camera and of course in this shot I am not identifiable so really it could be anyone 😀 Artist profiles are usually very annoying and I’m not a fan of explaining what I do. I remember being asked for a written profile for a charity auction to which I had donated a screen print. I came up with something very succinct. When the catalogue was published the (now international) artist Phlegm had a print in the same auction and his profile was one of my all time favourites. All it said was ‘I paint walls and make comics’. Last year I had a really interesting conversation with him about the notion of artist profiles and he shared a great anecdote about the one he did for his graduation show. It was very funny but out of respect of it being a private conversation I will have to leave it on that cliff hanger! 😧 I’m pleased you enjoyed this shot. Have a great week, Best wishes Mr C 🏃 Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Enter your comment here...
