River sculpture by Dan
Dan has created a number of sculptures in the River Don in Sheffield. They are all made from materials found in the river. All are free-standing and as the water levels rise during the winter months most will be returned to the river bed.

I returned yesterday for another look at all the sculptures and this one had already been reclaimed by the river. It had disappeared completely! Some were still standing and a few were damaged by the rising waters. I suspect with todays rain a few more will disappear. It’s a shame that this was one of the first to be washed away as it was one of my favourites.
It certainly puts the idea of permanence into perspective… 😦
