Sheffield S1 | West Street

With a large number of pubs and restaurants , West Street has for many years been one of the busiest of destination streets for revellers and people looking for a night out.

From 1978-1991 West Street was the location of The Limit nightclub.  A now legendary venue where lives were shaped, lifelong friendships made and through a love of music wonderful memories made.  Read more about The Limit on the Sheffield History Forum HERE

Among the bands who played at The Limit are: Joy Division, Human League, Pulp, Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Specials, Chas and Dave, The Cure, The Cramps, B52s, UB40, Steel Pulse, The Jam and U2!

In 2013 on the site where it once stood at 70-82 West Street, The Limit was celebrated and honoured with an unofficial heritage blue plaque:
