Postcard Cafe  |   Est. 08.01.2010

Today is the tenth anniversary of Postcard Cafe and over the next few days I will publish a brief retrospective of images from the last decade.

Back in 2010 I had no idea where it would lead nor how it might chart the evolution of my photography.  Neither did I have any idea that through WordPress I might encounter a community of brilliant photographers and other wonderfully inspiring people.

Like many others starting out on WordPress, my first post was a big ‘hello’ to the world.  I literally wrote a big hello in the snow with letters nearly 3 metres high on top multi story car park in the city centre of Sheffield.

Since then it is flattering that so many people have decided to follow Postcard Cafe.  Thank you to all who have signed up to follow the site and to all of you who take time to comment on and ‘like’ my blog posts.   Through my own subscriptions to a brilliant community of creative bloggers I am rewarded daily with new perspectives and inspiration.

I am grateful to everyone for your enthusiasm, encouragement, comments and generally making WordPress a friendly and inspiring place to be.

Best wishes,  Mr Cafe  x

    1. Thank you Peter. It’s good to celebrate a milestone and also interesting to pause and take stock. So the next few posts will be a retrospective… Best wishes, Mr C 🙂

  1. Congratulations, Nigel and thank you for gracing my inbox with your brilliant photography. It’s been such a pleasure to have you as a blogging buddy.

    1. Many thanks Lynn.
Likewise you are a great blogging buddy and your work too has been a great source of inspiration. I look forward to your world being less busy so I and all your WordPress followers 🙂 can once again look forward to more frequent posts.
Having said that perhaps a blogging break is no bad thing either. I no longer feel obliged to maintain daily posts and hope that the site is better for that.
The next few posts will be a retrospective of the first ten years of Postcard Cafe so there may not be too many surprises for you…
Sending best wishes from a Sheffield bathed in winter sun! (This time 10 years ago we were knee deep in snow!)

    1. Thank you.
The top shot is my favourite of the set. It’s not often I get my macro lens out but when I do I enjoy rediscovering the joys of close up photography!
I suspect you may have realised that when I post multiple images it is usually the first which is the strongest image (and often my favourite). The first image is the one which appears on the front page of the blog so it makes sense to consider which might be the pick of the bunch.
      Best wishes
      Mr C 🙂

    1. Thank you Adrian.
I thought a set of images (10×10 as it were) was a nice way to mark the anniversary. I also want to publish a retrospective of images but thought it would be better to run a series of past images as my next few posts.
You’ll be familiar with some of the more recent photographs in the up coming retrospective but you may enjoy some of the earlier stuff. Stay tuned! (as they used to say!
      Very best wishes
      Mr C 🙂
