  1. Thank you. Yes The city centre landscape is a bit bleak right now and with the increasing absence of shops on the high street most people will increase their shopping on-line and the cycle continues. It will be interesting to see how or if the high streets recover from the forces of the pandemic and the internet. I guess this series of photographs document only part of the story and with these closures people jobs, security and sense of belonging are also disappearing.
There are only a couple more images in this series. Tomorrow has a bumper post featuring John Lewis which was what moved me to do a series of photographs in the first place!
I hope you can make the most of the forecast good weather at the weekend. Best wishes, Mr C 🙂

    1. By coincidence, I also have shots of Debenhams and John Lewis to be published on my blog soon. 🙂

I read a report by Deloitte recently that predicts a strong future for the high street. While many of the existing stores will probably say their farewells, they predict that this will result in an influx of new, experimental, and risk-taking enterprises. While many of these will fail, others will succeed and thrive leading to new shopping experiences. I certainly hope so!

The articles can be found here (I only had time to read the summary, but there is a lot of other interesting material on the page): https://www2.deloitte.com/uk/en/pages/consumer-business/articles/what-next-for-the-high-street.html

      1. Thank you for the link. An interesting article.
I will look forward to seeing Debenhams and John Lewis appear on your blog!
Enjoy your weekend and the nice weather.
        Best wishes
        Mr C 🙂
