The title of this mini series is borrowed from the XTC song of the same name and it can be heard HERE
Some folks see the world as a stone
Concrete daubed in dull monotone
Your heart is the big box of paints
And others, the canvas we’re dealt
Your heart is the big box of paints
How coloured the flowers all smelled
As they huddled there in petaled prayer
They told me this as I knelt there
Awaken, you dreamers
Adrift in your beds
Balloons and streamers
Decorate the inside of your heads
Please let some out
Do it today
But don’t let the loveless ones sell you
A world wrapped in grey
Some folks pull this life like a weight
Drab and dragging dreams made of slate
Your heart is the big box of paints
And others, the canvas we’re dealt
Your heart is the big box of paints
Just think how the old masters felt
They’d call, awaken, you dreamers
Asleep at your desks
Parrots and lemurs
Populate your unconscious grotesques
Please let some out
Do it today
But don’t let the loveless ones sell you
A world wrapped in grey
And in the very least you can stand up naked and grin

The good ol’ Ball Street Bridge. It’s a nice location and one I’ve found myseld photographing on a number of locations while wandering around Kelham Island and Neepsend.
Can I be picky and point out a typo in the band name? I think you want a T, not a Y. 🙂
(I make a whole suite of typos on my own blog on a regular basis so know how easily they can slip by unnoticed…)
indeed! I’ve taken a few shots from much the same location. Like so many things the view can look very different depending on the season, the weather and the volume of water moving through the weir.
Thank you. Only three letters and I manage to get a third of them wrong! I am grateful for your nod to my error. Please continue to be picky as I always prefer to get things right and I have of course now edited the three posts where the error existed. In the previous three ‘Wrapped in Grey’ posts I got it right so I had 50% correct but that is still pretty poor 🙂
Have a great weekend
Best wishes
