Leatherman Squirt Ps4

This little multi-tool is a wonder of great design and precision engineering. Unlike similar tools this one is actually pocket size and lives on my key ring. Each of the tools have proved their worth and it is surprising how handy it can be to have a pair of pliers in your pocket! Leatherman tools may not be cheap but they are most definitely built to last. Other than some cosmetic damage which has no effect on functionality, this one works like new. In an age where so many things are throwaway, poorly designed or use materials that will fail, there is something reassuring investing in something made to last.

    1. Oh how funny!
I have an engineering background so when I purchased my Squirt I couldn’t help but be absolutely delighted and impressed by the level of finish and care that has gone into the design.
Sheffield is a city that grew from the steel industry and has a long history of making fine blades and cutlery. Sheffield United football team are even called The Blades. Somehow the manufacturers here failed to jump on the multi-tool market and I don’t think the UK have anyone making anything comparable to Leatherman. For years Swiss Army knives were very popular. These days I think anyone would be hard pressed to improve on the tools produced by Leatherman. Nice that they are still made in Portland and not manufactured overseas. Lots of Sheffield ‘brands’ now rely on the heritage of their companies but if you look at the packaging they are sadly manufactured abroad.
My father really liked my Leatherman – so naturally I had to get him one as a gift. He too thinks it’s great.

    1. Thank you. As you might have realised with my most recent posts, I like occasionally to try my hand at a bit of table top photography. It can feel a bit experimental playing with depth of field and working out creative angles. This little multi tool is a design classic and beautifully executed. Whether my photographs capture that I’m not sure but I enjoyed taking them and as always I learn a little in the process πŸ‘
      Have a great weekend
      Best wishes… πŸ™‚

  1. My partner has one and it’s his everything tool. The pliers are the most used for various applications. He wears his on a lanyard with his keys.
I think no other multi tool will surpass its versatility and engineering.

    1. Yes it is a really handy little tool. The pliers are great and I use them a lot for all sorts of tasks where I didn’t know they’d come in useful! The engineering is spot on in every detail. They are still manufactured in the US and not by an overseas contract where often the quality is a little less exacting.
Lots of knives once made in Sheffield still carry Sheffield brand names but the quality is no longer what it once was.
Leatherman tools may not be the cheapest but they are keen on attention to detail and quality.
